fall within 2009

...explored the contrasts between darkness and light in Ann Hamilton's double-helix tower. Located within the private collection at the Oliver Ranch in Sonoma County, two winding staircases which never meet acted as "stage" and "auditorium" for performers and audience.

Goode collaborated with the San Francisco Girls Chorus to create a unique soundscape intended to heighten the sense of dislocation by creating an aural and kinetic environment.

Traveling Light 2009

A performance installation piece celebrating more than 20 years of collaboration with lighting designer Jack Carpenter.

Goode wanted to create a work that played with/against the architectural demands of a raw, unfinished space. He stumbled upon The Mint, an architectural treasure, which offered antiquity and a stately (and perhaps shameful) grandeur as a monument to money. Both the performers and audience members moved from room to room challenging the traditional theater experience.

Wonderboy 2008

A dance theater work created in collaboration with puppeteer Basil Twist, with music by singer and violinist Carla Kihlstedt and pianist/drummer Matthias Bossi.

In this collaboration with Twist, Goode integrated yet another art form into his innovative cross-disciplinary work. Goode's attraction to the puppet world of Twist is the great humanity and sensitivity embodied in his puppets.
